Looking at the northeast corner of Main and Railroad, at the former Dean and Brown Grocery building. Written on the back: "Looks N. on left is Dean and Brown Mercantile. Groceries, cheese, meat cutter in building on left. Mr. Dean's hardware store on right, two stores. In Deans, I found percussion caps for muzzle loading rifles and revolvers and FFG black powder for them, in use before the turn of the century. Two fine stores. Mr. Brown had three (?) beautiful daughters and lived at the far end of Main Street. Mr. Dean also, but I am not sure where. Kruger's 4th on far right?"
