From the back of the photo: "The C&S, Chalk Creek branch to St. Elmo and Romley - 3 trips per week. A stop for a visit with Madame Zybriski and Napoleon Jones, old time residents of Alpine. Included in picture - Joe Perschbacker - Brakeman." Joe is on the left, Madame Zybriski is in the middle and Napoleon Jones is on the right. Joe Perschbacher dies in Buena Vista, CO May 14, 1968 at age 87. Both Madame Z. and Napoleon Jones died in Salida, CO, in December, 1928, both at the age of 85. The date of Jones' death is unknown, but Madame Zybriski died on December 16.

Tramway
4,996 feet long, which ran down Pomery Mountain from opposite the opening of the No. 4 level to the railroad the Murpheys Switch. Sometimes children would ride down to St. Elmo in these buckets, which was a thrill.
